The creation of INSTUDIO was based on eliminating the distinctions between producing fine art and interior design. Art is created in a studio, interior design is created in a studio, Samuel Lewis and Stephen Kladder became INSTUDIO - the art of design the business of living.
When not creating art Lewis and Kladder often spend their time visiting artist studios and making friends with artist who's work speaks to us.
There are many local artist and artisans making beautiful things. Many are not getting the attention that we feel they deserve. We enhance our own collections by purchasing art from artist we like.
In art and artist we like, INSTUDIO will sometimes say a few things about the art and artist, sometimes not. When a picture is worth a thousand words, why bother? The art can speak for itself.
If we present the art in a square format, it's usually just a detail of a work that we've edited to easily fit within our web page format. We'll do our best to give current contact information so you can visit the artist web site on your own.
Original art can be costly compared to art that is mass produced, due to the labor of love that it takes to create it. Some artists allow you to pay for it over time when they feel you have made a connection with a particular piece.

“A red headed woman makes a choo-choo jump it’s track... A red headed woman she can make it jump right back...Oh she’s just nature’s child, she’s got something that drives me wild…”

As INSTUDIO evolves we plan to give mini exhibits to our artist friends at our studio space. We will announce those exhibits on our web page when we start the exhibits.
We were part of the team of artist who have developed our local not for profit gallery, ART 94124. We convinced the interior design industry, friends and vendors to contribute to the gallery.
Benjamin Moore Paint was donated by California Paint Company, Furniture was donated by Jocelyn Muncaster of Gryphon Studios, Carpet Tile was donated by Jim Thompson of Tandus C&A, Window Treatments were donated by Jenny Jo a private design client of Samuel's.
